Round Wall Mirrors

October 2020

After Ryan built the new Restoration Hardware hack entry table, I began looking for a 28-32 inch round mirror to place above the table. We previously had a portrait of my son as a baby that was too cute for words. But it was time to dress that wall up more with the wood table. And it’s nice to have a mirror to check ourselves before answering the door.

I found a great deal at Target, where really great designers make great decor available at discount prices, including Studio McGee, Hearth and Home (by Joanna Gaines) and other up and coming designers. This Project 62 round mirror was a great value at $60 for 28 inches:

Unfortunately, the first mirror I purchased was a little warped. I exchanged that for another. The second one was better, but at a distance I could still see some warped reflection.

See the slight warping in the column reflection?

The warping was not super noticeable, but as I sped in front of the mirror I could notice it on my face. I thought I could live with it but we’re working on other updates and while I love a good bargain, I really didn’t want to settle for the warping. So I decided to upgrade.

I began my online hunt. This mirror was one that I was considering:

At 30 inches, it was in the size range I wanted. Plus, I love West Elm so knew the quality would be good. But I wasn’t ready to dish out $300 for a mirror so looked for other options.

I knew a bathroom vanity mirror would have the quality I was looking for. It’s unusual (to me) to see warped reflections in bathroom vanity mirrors. Build.com is a great source of bathroom fixtures, and this one was another great option I considered:

I also looked on Amazon, because right now it’s easier to have things shipped to me than go out. I’ve purchased various Umbra products over the years and this one seems like a great option. This Umbra mirror was a great option at a decent price point at $150:

I ultimately decided to go with one from Wayfair and am very happy with the quality. Wayfair has a lot of options. The one I selected is made by Glass Warehouse and is very much a mirror that can be used in bathrooms or other rooms. It’s a very heavy mirror, and a plus was that it was shipped direct and arrived within less than a week (and was undamaged – score!). Ryan installed it for me tonight, and it looks great with no warping. At under $115, it was a great price point and definitely worth the additional $55 over the Target mirror I originally purchased.

Here’s the final again – no warping! Woo hoo!

In these times of ordering and shopping online, it’s such a balance between finding a good deal and high quality products. But sometimes we luck out like with this mirror.

Have you found great deals on decorative mirrors? I’m on the hunt for a rectangular one for our bedroom, so drop a comment if you have a lead.
