It’s that time of year – almost Thanksgiving and definitely within the realm of doable to put holiday decorations up! I’ve always put my tree and decorations up Thanksgiving week, but with this year’s pandemic and staying home so much, holiday decor is going up now! Anyways, there’s science to prove to back me up that holiday lights bring cheer. I knew it!
We’ve always strung garland up our stairwell to light it up. This year I’m going a little nuts with garland around the house and in our new covered backyard living space, which we can see from the areas we spend the most time in our house. These are a good garland that we’ve used:
This year, for the outdoor space, I found these great 18 foot garland strings to string around the pillars outside:
Those are thin and can be easily wrapped around pillars inside or outside.
This is another good option for a realistic with a bit more bulk, lights and glitter to brighten things up:
It includes berries, pinecones, lights and glitter, so pretty much ready to bring on the cheer out of the box. At 9 feet, this could be placed along a fireplace mantle, dining table or console table.
We have an artificial tree we’ve put up the last few years. Before that, we were finding fresh trees to put up every year. I miss the smell of the pine trees inside (even though I can smell them outside here in the Pacific Northwest), so we also buy a real wreath to hang inside to get those lovely winter smells. They aren’t in stock yet at Costco, where we usually find a great deal under $40. But I did see live garland on Costco available for shipping, so just purchased two of these for our front indoor living room:
I’ll post an update of what this beauty looks like dressed with some holiday cheer. What realistic and affordable wreaths have you found?
