Before Ryan made this awesome Restoration Hardware Oak Hack Console Table, for several years we had this console table in light grey by our front door. After about a year, we painted it a deeper blue hue. I liked it and it served its purpose as a narrow console in our entry way in our last house and our current house. I didn’t want to get rid of it when Ryan made our new RH hack console table (as you can tell, I like to repurpose things), so we decided to put it in Ryan’s downstairs home office that we’ve been updating. We did a repaint of the room to brighten it from Ashley Gray to Edgecomb Gray, and added some black furniture to contrast with the Pottery Barn white desk and grey sofa we have in that room.
This was a simple $9 update to turn it from this:

This picture is showcasing some of the pretty white roses Ryan gave me for our wedding anniversary.
To transform the table, we set up a spray area in the garage and removed the drawer and pull to spray it in full. Ryan was a little hesitant because he had not been enlightened yet by the power of a spray paint can refinish. But it turned out perfect. A flat matte black that works great with brass tones. We stopped at Lowe’s to find a single brass pull for $3, but this one is very close.
I removed a big clock from the space on the wall above and hung one of the canvas prints we had made at Costco after an epic road trip to Arches National Park a few years ago. The picture was taken by Ryan and captures some of the beauty of Arches. It matches another canvas we have of Bryce Canyon. I love to take personal photos and develop them in black and white on canvas (like my wedding photo you can see here on our Ikea Hemnes Desk Hack). It gives me the sentimental satisfaction in my pretty art.
Drop a comment on any repurposed tables you’ve done.
