After much deliberating, I have narrowed down our fall paint refresh colors. We plan to tackle the rooms weekend by weekend, finishing the kitchen refresh in the spring. We’ve done our family room, and next up is our formal living room, upstairs hallway and stairs. Our stairwell rebuild project is on hold for a bit while we determine the order of newels vs. new carpet solutions for the stairs, but I am so ready to brighten up the main living spaces. Paint for the easy win!
Here is our palette:
Our current plan for main wall color is Pale Oak. The current color is Pashmina, which has been nice in the brighter summer months but too dark in the fall and winter. Pale Oak was a paint color we selected for our family room after trying Alabaster and Alabaster at 50%. In our house, the lighting turns cooler and darker with most of the rooms North Facing. Our formal living room is South Facing, but the gloomy fall has arrived in the Pacific Northwest, and I think Pale Oak will look nice there. I’ll test to confirm, and if it’s too dark, Dove Wing is the next likely candidate.
For our dining room, we’ve narrowed to either Dove Wing or Thundercloud Gray. I have wanted a blue-grey dining room for a while. It’s been Ashley Gray for a few years, but a brighter lighter blue-grey or bright white-grey will be nice and help me with the dark floors (which I would love to lighten or brighten). While I’ve got it narrowed to two options for the dining room, I am secretly keeping Silver Chain as a possibility on my decision bench right now.
I also plan to use Dove Wing in the Kitchen, where we have Sea Salt now. I like Sea Salt, but with the island paint color we plan to use, I think Dove Wing will blend nicely and be a little less green in hue.
Our interior doors and trim are White Dove, and our cabinets were painted in what we think is Simply White. We are debating whether to repaint them altogether, given they are about 6 years old now and starting to show some wear.
For our island, we are thinking of a two-tone shade, and possibly Pale Oak or Revere Pewter. I am loving how Revere Pewter looks on cabinets and doors in some of the inspiration photos I’ve seen, including from Pike Properties. Ironically, our bedroom is Revere Pewter, but we will also lighten it up as part of our house refresh. I am not not quite sure on the final color, but probably Dove Wing or Halo.
Finally, rounding out the palette is a rich Wrought Iron for some feature colors, like fireplace metal, doors and some accent pieces. The interior of the front door would look pretty sharp with this color.
These are all Benjamin Moore.
Wrought are your favorite colors this fall (see how I did that… Wrought instead of What? Ha!).
