SPF Sunscreen I’m Loving

September 2020

I feel like I’ve been on a constant quest for face sunscreen. I’m in the phase of trying to keep my face protected to prevent the inevitable wrinkles, and have been upping my game over the last few years. Here are some of the sunscreens I love.

Tinted Sunscreens
I don’t typically wear face makeup, so I like a little tint on my sunscreen. For several years, Neutrogena’s BB face cream was my go to. Neutrogena discontinued the line I loved, and I’ve seen the good news that it’s been repackaged and available again. If you want a great sunscreen and moisturizer that won’t break the bank, this one is great.

But my new favorite tinted sunscreen, after my dermatologist gave me a sample to try, is SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF50. This SPF is a zinc oxide blend (you know, the stuff that makes your face white), but this is not your grandmother’s zinc oxide. This stuff is so lightweight with a slight tint that I don’t need anything else. While I can reapply it after a few hours, it seems to last for several hours. If I reapply, it doesn’t feel greasy and doesn’t cake. It’s a very liquid SPF, which can cause a mess, but I am loving the feeling that my skin is protected without a heavy layer of sunscreen on my face.

Non-tinted Sunscreens

With the pandemic underway and me not going A.N.Y.W.H.E.R.E., I decided to forgo any makeup or tint and try a new lightweight sunscreen. I have used Lancôme products in the past, so I made a switch to this one.

Bienfait Multi-Vital Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF30

Lancôme’s Bienfait Multi-vital SPF30 is a very lightweight sunscreen that seems to last all day without getting oily on my skin. This doesn’t include any tint, but you can use this under any concealer or foundation. It’s a little pricier, but the feeling on my face is so light that it’s been worth it.

Ryan, my kids and I all have super sensitive skin. For the kids, we’ve been using Blue Lizard for a few years. For our littles, it works a little better than Neutrogena for durability, coverage and spread, which is also a close second favorite for us. Blue Lizard is a broad spectrum water resistant SPF50, and can take the Pacific Northwest rivers we like to splash in.

What works best for you?
