Adding dimensional art to your walls can create depth and comfort to any room. Make it live plants and your walls will thank you. Hanging live plants on walls can requires some minimal upkeep, but there are some very low maintenance options you can consider. Here is what we chose for my office walls:
To use this wall pot, I bought a set of small succulent plants to spread between the two wall vases. I used black river stones I’ve had for ages, like these rocks, but any other small rocks or light gravel would work.
First, we needed to hang the vases to get them into position. It was easier than stuffing and hanging them with where the screw holes were. Then I removed the glass to carefully lay an initial layer of river rocks. Next we carefully planted the plants and gently surrounded them by more river rocks (though any filler will work as long as the grain is large enough to not sift through the edges). The succulents require just a small dropper of water ever week.
For a mid-century modern geometric style, these are very cute wall vases as well:
Avoiding the glass would simplify the watering requirements although using a baby Tylenol dropper to water is kind of fun).
For a very minimalist live plant wall art piece, West Elm sells circular wreath eucalyptus plants that are perfect for the holiday season or year round.
If live plants are too intimidating or not something you want to maintain, there are some very realistic artificial options out there. Here are a few ideas for artificial plant fillers:
We just recently purchased these artificial lavender plants for our outdoor potters. With the rainy cold season here, I could not manage to keep the live plants alive even through October. These arrived quickly and we like seeing the purple hues from our kitchen:
As a final option – if you are not ready to hang live plants on your wall but still interested in bringing live plants to hang in your room, this ceiling hanging vase offers another option for dimensional live plants:
Now only if my green thumb can hang in there to keep these fun plants alive.
